Volcano Joe
Archetype: Troll Arsonist
A man who achieves the class of "utterly fucking terrifying" when he dons
his armored thermal suit and picks up a high powered flamethrower about
the size of a Panther Assault Cannon, Volcano Joe is usually – ok, always
– hired for jobs that require no finesse whatsoever, such as the torching
of an apartment building in a Z area. His suit has the equivalent
strength of heavy military armor, but possesses a armored "backpack" that
provides his flame thrower's ammunition with the same protection. And if
that wasn't bad enough, the gun – it's a big gun – is also heavily
armored, making Volcano Joe a nightmare of impenetrable protection.
Then there's his vehicle: An armored Westwind 2000 that's had it's
interior rearranged to allow Joe access even while he's wearing his suit.
(Needless to say there isn't any room for passengers.) The vehicle is
also armed with a pair ultra-smart missiles concealed at the front and
rear just in case he needs to cover his escape. And, just for the hell of
it, he's wired the whole vehicle with plastic explosives so he can blow it
up around himself if the need should arise.
Outside of the suit, Joe is a sophisticated connoisseur of the arts,
frequently attending operas and visiting museum exhibitions. He lives in
an upper class house tucked away in the woods and equipped with a secret
entrance to an underground garage as well as a variety of sentry weapons
programmed to hose anything larger than a dog. Fortunately, these weapons
always fire stun ammunition.
Blaze
Archetype: Human Arsonist
25 years old with gradient red hair and piercing crimson cybereyes, Blaze
maintains a professional exterior that belies the tumultuous hate that
lies just below her dark skin. As a child, she was abused by both
her mother and father, a pair of twisted pyromaniacs who performed acts of
torture on their daughter that resulted in everything from cigarette burns
to the loss of several fingers via blow torch. While twisted, her
parents were also quite wealthy, and at age 16 Blaze, who by this time had
acquired decent decking skills, managed to siphon over two million nuyen to a
phantom account. She then torched her parent's house – with mom and dad
still inside – and dove head-first into the shadowrunner culture.
Using the stolen money, Blaze replaced her missing digits with cyberware
and underwent extensive cosmetic surgery to hide her scars and identity.
Some of the cybered fingers were built to contain miniature flamethrowers
capable of shooting a narrow band of flame briefly up to 5 meters. She also had
her body tempered to resist heat blasts and replaced much of her skin with
a synthetic that resists flame.
Blaze now performs freelance acts of arson, having equipped herself with a
bewildering array of conventional and custom fire weaponry. She is also
becoming quite skilled at weapon construction and is building more of her
own weapons in the back of her custom, fireproof van (which, by the way,
is equipped with a pop-up flame throwing unit of epic proportions). In
addition to arson, her decking skills and limited rigging ability also
allows her to find work in other areas of the shadowrun world.
Kindle
Archetype: Human Mage Arsonist
An upper level manipulation initiate, Kindle is a highly attractive male
with long blonde hair and a commendable build. This combination of skill
and good looks hasn't done much to soften Kindle's ego, and today he is a
category 1 snob who only accepts jobs that don't require nasty activities
such as crawling around in the sewer muck or riding in an automobile
smaller than a chauffeured Nightsky. His jobs involve mysterious fires at
government balls, the sudden incineration of a painting during an exhibit
opening at a maximum security museum, and other runs that allow him to
wear a tuxedo. The most powerful of Kindle's initiate skills is
definitely masking, allowing him to pass through magical probes like shit
through a goose.
In the off chance Kindle does get into some kind of legal trouble, he
doesn't even have to break a sweat. Most of the upper echelon of the city
is either his close friend – or so terrified of him that they wouldn't
think of anything but letting him off the hook.
