Monster Magnet
Archetype: Troll Paranormal Animal Hunter
Monster Magnet probably never would have gotten into hunting if it didn't
seem like every animal in the world - paranormal or not - was out to kill
him. Sporting a cyber leg (Piasma attack), cyber arm (Bandersnatch
attack), cyber torso (pack of Hell Hounds) and a variety of other
replacements (pick a critter), Monster Magnet appears to be on every
animal's hit list for reasons he and everybody else can't understand.
Even pigeons will attack this guy like he was a giant loaf of bread. It's
no wonder Monster Magnet has developed such a distaste towards anything
critterish.
Finally realizing that he couldn't escape his fate by locking himself in
his apartment (he was attacked by a bunch of mice), Monster Magnet decided
to give the critters what they wanted – but not before taking a couple of
them with him. Monster Magnet, whose face is crisscrossed with scratches
and whose eyes have scary looking covers to keep them from getting pecked
out by birds, now hires himself out as a freelance critter killer, willing
to take just about any assignment, although he may ask for backup on some
of the more difficult ones. Monster Magnet's senses have evolved to the
point that he can find just about any critter merely by sniffing for it,
an ability that was probably developed by his body in the name of self
preservation. Monster Magnet moves quickly despite his bulk and his weird
eyes are constantly darting around, looking for the next critter threat.
The Taxidermist
Archetype: Human Paranormal Hunter
The tenth taxidermist in a very long family profession, The Taxidermist
closed down the family shop after it was firebombed by the militant animal
rights group Lifeforce. The explosion engulfed two people – a brother and
sister – and nobody is quite sure which of them survived. So the jury's
still out on whether The Taxidermist is male or female.
The explosion left him/her horribly disfigured and even after many years
of cosmetic surgery, The Taxidermist continues to wear a hood covering
most of his/her face. The remainder of The Taxidermist's garb is heavy in
the cloak department and he/she possesses a seemingly endless array of
large, face concealing hats. His/her voice is gruff and mechanical,
signifying either a replacement or modification of the vocal cords.
After suceeding in bringing down a dragon for a wealthy client, The
Taxidermist received an obscene amount of money, most of which went
towards purchasing a stealth version of the Aztechnology Aguilar
helicopter. He/she uses the vehicle (piloted by him/herself with the aid
of a military grade autopilot) to race to remote regions of the globe in
search of ultra-rare catches for clients.
Diana
Archetype: Human Paranormal Hunter
Possessing shamanic ability that she has never cultivated, Diana has never
required more than one Ranger-X shot to kill a target critter. Her
waifish frame has been augmented with a pair of cyberarms specifically
designed for bow use, and while she couldn't pick up a cinder block
without one of her limbs tearing loose, her arms allow her to pull back
the toughest bows and fire them with cold accuracy.
After undergoing cybersurgery, Diana began to experience bouts of extreme
pain, presumably because of her untouched totem's attempts to deliver its
gift. She quickly became addicted to pain killers, and soon after that
became addicted to cocaine extracts designed to counteract the side
effects of her first addition. Such a combination of drugs has resulted
in a frighteningly bipolar personality.
Diana spends equal amounts of time in the country and city, acting as a
guide and protector for spectators, surveyors, etc. during the week, and
then retreating to her apartment in the city during the weekend to
overfeed her addictions. As time passes, the combination of drugs and
magical confusion erodes more and more of her mind.
