George Tasker
Archetype: Human Former Corporate Executive
Formerly a rather lowly executive for PacificEd Power Corporation, Tasker
became fed up with his long hours and lack of recognition, finally bolting
from the company - but not before snagging some experimental designs for
high capacity batteries with the help of a friend. PacificEd quickly
discovered the theft and hired a team of runners to deal with the
problem. After it was all over and done, Tasker's friend was dead and
Tasker suddenly found himself in need a several cyber implants. The
experimental plans, however, somehow managed to remain in his possession.
Tasker made a deal with a small underground contractor under which the
contractor would gain possession of the plans if they first built Tasker a
number of vehicles equipped with high capacity batteries. The project
took two years, but in the end Tasker found himself equipped with a number
of vehicles - including four tractor trailer trailers and several vans -
installed with high capacity batteries capable of carrying electricity
loads in the megawatt range. (Shortly thereafter an anonymous tip
informed PacificEd as to who now had the plans. The contractor was wiped
out soon after). This now allows Tasker - and his roughneck security team
- to steal enormous amounts of electricity, which is then sold at obscene
prices to distributors who find themselves low on available power due to
strikes, outages or terrorism.
Tasker is a rather puny man who, while forceful in negotiations, tends to
back away from physical conflict. He rarely accompanies the rest of his
group on actual steals, preferring to stay behind in their large
safe-house and conduct negotiations via the matrix. He is in his late
40s, has thinning gray hair and prefers to continue dressing in the suit
and tie corporate executive style.
Hessen
Archetype: Human Electrician
A large, round man with a taste for expensive cigarettes and a calculative personality, Hessen is responsible for actually hooking up the group's equipment to the
various power sources they steal from or distribute to. He drives his own
vehicle - a Brumby equipped with every tool a spark thief would ever need
- and works with blinding efficiency once he figures out the best route to
his goal. (He tends to unnerve the rest of the group by simply staring at
a power junction for upwards of fifteen minutes without even moving a
muscle, then suddenly breaking his mental standoff and going to work).
Hessen is a pistol aficionado, being quite skilled with a number of light
and heavy designs, but preferring to carry a good old Warhawk during
stressful times. He also wears a suit of insulated armor (light security
grade, but more flexible) while working on hookups.
Chilton
Archetype: Human Rigger/Decker
Formerly a "road train" driver in the Outback, Chilton can put his Burgen
through impressive maneuvers, having modified it for an impressive
increase in speed (the trailers he pulls, while large, actually weigh very
little on the grand scale of things). Surprisingly, he isn't the best
driver with normal vans (not that he isn't good, he just isn't the best),
appearing as if the lack of a decent amount of vehicle weight causes him
to forget that lighter vehicles like to leave the road if you drive them
too hard. In addition to driving, Chilton also takes care of whatever
low-end decking the group might need.
Chilton's pride and joy are his 4 large trailers installed with high
capacity batteries and sealed within a shell that negates most of the
electromagnetic effects hauling around a big ass load of electricity tends
to generate. Having four trailers allows the group to not only keep
several loads of power on stand by, but also set one trailer up to either
steal or release electricity, uncouple, and then grab another trailer for
another run.
Chilton is a warm, but slightly egotistical individual with long, blonde
hair and handsome features. He spends most of his spare time womanizing
at local clubs and bars.
Talon
Archetype: Human Former Street Samurai
Rather short and nondescript, Talon tends to take his job a bit too
seriously, seemingly determined to follow every rule in the unofficial
Street Samurai Guide he has written in his head. This use of logic tends
to make Talon a bit indecisive in combat situations, as if he gets
mentally caught up with an invisible procedure chain as opposed to just
"shooting back". Despite these shortcomings, Talon is a good shot with an
SMG and his small frame allows him to complete some rather impressive
athletic maneuvers as well as staying virtually silent in stealth
situations.
Graham
Archetype: Ork Former Mercenary
Having devoted much of his cyberware to speed enhancement, Graham has
given more than one attacker a nasty surprise by racing around at speeds
normally unheard of in an Ork. He is well versed with a number of heavy
weapons, but has been barred by Tasker from using all but his MP Laser in
combat situations. He is also skilled in what he calls "toys", primarily
assault rifles and shotguns. Graham also operates the vehicle laser
installed in Chilton's Burgen.
